Hello book lovers, my name is Charles, Carlos in Spanish, acknowledging my Puerto Rican heritage, and this is TheRicanReader Book Blog. I have a passion for reading and proudly classify myself as a book nerd and love all things books.  My passion for reading comes from my grandparents. My grandmother was an avid reader of newspapers, her only available media as libraries in Mobile, Ala were segregated during most of her early life. My grandfather had a love for medicine and somehow accumulated numerous medical books and journals which he devoured. The passion they had for expanding their horizons through the written word passed down to me, which I am most blessed and grateful for.  The goal of this blog is to present an independent voice, highlighting books that I come across in a fun, interesting, sometimes unconventional, and maybe a little quirky way.
