I’d like to start by expressing sincere thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced audiobook copy of From Zero to Millionaire. As someone who actively reviews practical, mindset-focused, and personal finance books, I found this to be a refreshingly approachable listen—one that lives up to its promise of being simple, effective, and stress-free.

Nicolas Bérubé delivers a compact and accessible introduction to stock market investing, one clearly aimed at beginners or those who feel overwhelmed by the financial world’s complexity. His strength lies in stripping away jargon and demystifying concepts that too often intimidate first-time investors. The tone is friendly, conversational, and practical—he doesn’t talk down to readers but rather invites them to begin from wherever they are.

The practicality of the book is one of its biggest assets. Bérubé emphasizes the importance of starting early, being consistent, ignoring market noise, and leveraging low-cost index funds for long-term growth. These fundamentals are well-supported and explained with clarity. His personal story—from someone who didn’t grow up immersed in financial knowledge to someone who achieved financial independence—is inspiring and underscores the idea that you don’t need to be wealthy to become wealthy.

However, for all its strengths, the book isn’t without a few shortcomings. As a reader who appreciates concrete, real-world examples, I felt the audiobook sometimes skimmed too lightly over key application points. There’s more mindset and motivation here than deep strategy or walkthroughs. This isn’t a step-by-step investment guide; it’s more of a call to action—a solid one—but one that could leave true beginners with questions about implementation (such as how to choose funds or brokers, or navigate market downturns emotionally).

Even so, that doesn’t diminish its value. The book serves as an excellent mindset primer, especially for those just beginning their financial journeys. It helps you believe that investing isn't just for the elite—it’s for everyone, and it’s never too late to start. For those who’ve felt locked out of the wealth-building conversation, this audiobook might just be the nudge they need.

Final Thoughts:

From Zero to Millionaire won’t answer every investing question you might have—but it will give you the confidence to ask better ones and take that critical first step. And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

Highly recommended for:

First-time investors

College students or young professionals

Those who feel anxious about investing

Anyone looking to shift their financial mindset
