Volodymyr Zelensky: The Biography by University Press
Thanks to University Press, for providing an advance reader’s copy of the eBook for review consideration. This review expresses my own personal opinion.
Over the past two years the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has become known around the world and this book gives us a glimpse into his life and why he has become the symbol of democratic freedom.
Many of us first heard of President Zelensky after a taped conversation between him and former President Trump came to light over financial aid to Ukraine, wherein it appeared that Trump was asking the newly elected president to do him a favor, provide dirt on then candidate President Joe Biden and his family. The conversation took place before the Russian evasion and while it was part of the impeachment hearings against Trump, it revealed little about Zelensky, a man who would soon become known to millions around the world.
University Press provides a nicely written book which gives us a glimpse into who President Zelensky is, his upbringing, career as a comedian, which some would say was the staging for his run for the highest office in Ukraine, Jewish background, beliefs, and how he rose to the occasion of defending his country when many leaders would have caved.
The writing is straightforward, flows well, and gives just enough information to give you a working knowledge of this most brave soul, one who continues to lead his country against unimaginable odds, fighting aggression and tyranny, not only for the sake of Ukraine, but one could say, in fact, he (Zelensky), has said many times, the entire world.
I give this book a good solid 4 stars for meeting its intended purpose, which is to share the background, and life, up to now, of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
